HSCC meeting Silverstone May 2017
The weather was awful, I don't like the new track layout, and the Chevy went very well. First half of the race was dry, 2nd half a light shower and a bit slippery. There were six contenders in the big-engine Class A.. . and, um, I came sixth-in-class and 12th overall out of 29 starters, so not a brilliant driver performance but not a disgrace. For the last half of the race I ended up in one of those track-gaps where the group ahead were 6 seconds a lap faster and out of sight, and the chasing group was well behind and could not catch me. On the slowing down lap, the heavens opened and Noah's flood descended. One of the subsequent races was cancelled. Most of my kit was completely drenched, and a bit of a clammy journey home with another epic storm at High Wycombe on the M40. Many thanks to Peter Collins for the fantastic photgraphs (obviously the copyright is his).
Anyway, the Chev behaved v. well, temps and pressures fine, only one recurrence of the high-idle issue when quite hot in a M-way traffic jam, so that's OK to live with. Thanks for all the prep, brilliant as always. Roll on Brands Hatch GP circuit on July 2nd.
